Chapter 56 of 90 TEST
AMPLEFORTH

Lucy Warwick

I remember one day at the College I was rather angry with one of my colleagues who felt hurt because I took over his top group. As I walked through the College grounds, I saw another colleague, Lucy Warwick, the Head of the English department and had an urge to go over to her to try to understand what the fuss was all about.

When I was about to do so, something deep inside of me told me to be calm and, instead of talking to her about this annoying matter, to stop and say a prayer for Lucy herself. I did so.

It seems the next day on her way to work, Lucy was driving recklessly, hit a mound in the centre of the road and her car flew off into the air. She sustained incredible fractures to her jaw and body and certain parts were bolted together. They did not think she would survive. The monks who all had a deep affection for Lucy, had prayers and masses said and also reliquaries of St. Benedict were placed on her.

Lucy completely recovered and continued to do the brilliant work in the English Department she had always done going on to produce many marvellous plays and, as always, was an inspiration to all the students.

Thank God I was obedient and listened.
