We had a turbulent time selling off the school apartments, clearing out the school property and selling Gospa House, our personal residence in St. Julians. So much was still unfinished and so many papers, accounts and furniture to be dealt with.
As usual, our prayers were answered. Dear St. Joseph intervened, and we eventually moved into a rented house with a seven car garage basement. This was ideal as storage space for all the items we still had to dispose of from the school.
The house faced the sea and was wonderful to be in from April onwards. However, in the winter months it was freezing cold as there was very little insulation and no central heating. Still, all was well temporarily, and we were grateful to be in the house as the price was very reasonable, the landlord helpful and we enjoyed the nearby swimming places and lovely walks.
The problem was that our savings were being eaten into as the money was being paid out on rent instead of securing our future. This could not continue.
We started looking for a place we could buy for Tom and live in occasionally when we visited Malta from our new house in Italy. We saw many agents, but we were keen to be in the main town and within walking distance of the one and only church in the area. Nothing seemed to be right. We prayed and asked St. Joseph to find us the right place. A day or two later, we were shown one that seemed just right for us, a modern two-bedroom terrace house in the heart of the old town, part of a complex called Ta Monita and situated in St. Joseph Street, right next to the parish church and chapel of adoration.
