Chapter 79 of 90 TEST
ELANGUEST & MALTA

Chinese waitress in the Strand – coincidence or God?

Some time ago Ursula and I were walking along the strand in Malta and met an acquaintance who joined us for a coffee. We discussed many things as well as God and his hand in our daily living. Philip believed that much of this was possibly simply coincidence. I assured him that God was involved in everything that happened and was very much part of our everyday routine.

Just then the waitress came over and she happened to be Chinese which is not too common in Malta. I asked her where she was from and how long she had been working in the cafe. She said she was from Shanghai and had not been in Malta for too long.

I mentioned that I had been to Shanghai and stayed at the Jing Jang hotel. I said I very much enjoyed my stay there and visited many interesting places. I also remembered staying in one night in the lounge where there were very few people. A young girl was playing the piano and no one seemed very interested. Knowing how very badly paid some of these people were, I went up to her and asked her to play some Beatle songs. This she did and I gave her a reasonable tip.

The young girl in the cafe looked at me in disbelief and said she was the girl playing the piano and had hoped to find me one day to thank me for my great generosity. This may sound like a trivial, daily event but Philip could hardly believe what he was hearing and decided perhaps not everything was just a coincidence. God could possibly be involved.
